The academic journal Journal of Human Security and Global Law has published its Issue 5 (2026), available in open access on the scientific journals platform of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.
This new issue is published in a context marked by the growing technological, legal and social complexity that characterizes contemporary societies. Under the title “Times of Uncertainty: Law and Security in the Face of Contemporary Complexity”, the editorial introduces the main debates addressed in this volume, focusing on the challenges that the digital revolution, global dynamics and emerging risks pose to legal institutions and security systems.
The articles analyse issues such as the transformation of the State in the face of the power of large technological corporations, the tensions surrounding the principle of the primacy of European Union law, the role of citizens’ shared responsibility in the management of risks and disasters, and the need for new approaches to security in large-scale public events. The issue concludes with a study on the impact of the European Artificial Intelligence Regulation on the energy sector and its role in promoting responsible innovation.
