Doctoral Thesis Defense of Justo Garzón Ortega

On May 20, the defense of the doctoral thesis by Justo Garzón Ortega, entitled «La regulación jurídica de las hermandades y cofradías de Semana Santa ante los retos de la sostenibilidad en el siglo XXI», took place in the Aula Magna of the Faculty of Law at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.

This dissertation forms part of the doctoral program in Human Security and Global Law at the UAB and was supervised by Roser Martínez and Carlos Padrós, with Dr. Roser Martínez also serving as tutor.

The examining committee, chaired by Paulina Beato — State economist and former president of Red Eléctrica de España — included as members Antonio Morales Plaza, partner at Baker McKenzie and professor at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, and Gonzalo Sáenz de Miera, Director of Climate Change and Alliances at Iberdrola.

The committee delivered a highly positive assessment of the research presented, highlighting both the academic relevance of the work and the robustness of the research process carried out throughout the predoctoral period, awarding the newly qualified doctor the highest possible distinction: Summa Cum Laude.
