The volume opens with the editorial “A new cycle for the Animal Rights magazine: continuity, excellence and global commitment” , signed by Joaquín David Rodríguez Álvarez –secretary of the Manuel Ballbé Chair and director of the magazine–. The editorial highlights challenges and opportunities in the field: closing the gap between regulatory recognition and its effective application, addressing the intersection between animal exploitation, climate crisis and social justice, and facing the ethical dilemmas derived from technification, without losing sight of a plural and comparative perspective.
The edition brings together contributions that engage with urgent problems and diverse legal realities. Highlights include:
Studies on multi-species families and on the non-seizure and custody of companion animals in Colombia.
An analysis of the ownership of pets in horizontal ownership based on the criteria of the Constitutional Court of Peru.
A critical reflection on the possession of hunting weapons in Spain in 21st century society.
A work on multispecies disaster law in Brazil.
A review of Vicente de Paula Ataide Jr. Introdução au direito animal: A theory gives legal capacities encourage
As usual, the journal maintains an open access policy, double-blind peer review . Manuscript submission is open throughout the year and papers are assigned to the different sections of the journal according to scope and nature.
From the Manuel Ballbé Chair we invite the academic, professional community and all interested people to read, disseminate and debate the contents of this issue. If you would like to contribute with your research, please consult the editorial rules and submission process on the journal's website.
We appreciate the commitment of the authors, the panel of reviewers and the editorial team to make this new issue possible, as well as the institutional support that allows us to continue consolidating animal rights as an autonomous and essential discipline for a more just and interspecies future.
