Diploma in Human Rights and the Rights of NatureA Global Conversation

Europe and Latin America

Presentation

This Diploma program arises from the alliance between the Global Alliance for the Rights of Nature (GARN) and the Manuel Ballbé Chair in Human Security and Global Law (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona), with the aim of offering accessible, rigorous, and practice-oriented training on the Rights of Nature and Human Rights.

It is especially addressed to academic communities, activists, defenders of territories, and interdisciplinary professionals from Europe and Latin America who are interested in understanding and applying the paradigm shifts implied by the Rights of Nature.

Non-tuition activity. Free and open access.

Global context

The global ecological crisis, intensified by neoliberal policies, extractivism, and climate change, demands a new ethical, legal, and political framework. In this context, the Rights of Nature represent an emerging paradigm that seeks to recognize the intrinsic value of ecosystems and to position Nature as a subject of rights, moving beyond traditional anthropocentric approaches within Western legal systems.
