Joaquín Rodríguez participates in the National Conference on EU Guardianship in Disruptive Technologies

Today, October 31, Professor Joaquín Rodríguez Álvarez, member of the Governing Council of the Manuel Ballbé Chair in Human Security and Global Law, is participating as a speaker in the National Academic Conference on the European Union's Protective Action in Disruptive Technologies , organized by the University of León.


His presentation, titled “Hybrid Warfare and the Militarization of Artificial Intelligence: Risks, Asymmetries, and Ethical Emergencies,” addresses the challenges posed by the emergence of artificial intelligence in hybrid conflicts. From a legal, ethical, and geopolitical perspective, Professor Rodríguez offers a critical reflection on the role of the European Union in regulating emerging technologies that directly impact human security.


Within the framework of this intervention, the Argument of the international campaign Stop Killer Robots is also presented, as a tool to promote academic and citizen debate on the prohibition of autonomous lethal weapons systems and the need to preserve meaningful human control in the use of military technologies.


The event is being held this afternoon, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm , in the Lecture Hall of the Faculty of Law at the University of León , and brings together academics, legal professionals and institutional representatives to discuss the challenges posed by technological transformation within the European framework.
