El Dr. José Darío Argüello Rueda obté una plaça de Professor Lector en la Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona



The Manuel Ballbé Chair in Human Security and Global Law is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. José Darío Argüello Rueda as Lecturer in the Area of Administrative Law within the Department of Public Law and Historical-Legal Sciences at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB).


The position was awarded through a public competitive selection process held on 29 June 2026 for a teaching and research profile specializing in European Union Law, Environmental Law, and Administrative Law.


As part of the selection process, Dr. Argüello delivered a lecture entitled "The Transformation of the Legal Status of Nature in the Anthropocene: Perspectives from Environmental Law, Administrative Regulation, and European Union Law." In his presentation, he outlined a research proposal focused on the evolution of the legal status of nature and the development of new regulatory approaches to address today's socio-ecological challenges. His work builds on the research lines he has developed over recent years concerning the rights of nature, ecological justice, administrative regulation, and environmental governance.


Dr. Argüello's appointment marks another significant milestone in his academic career and further strengthens his ties with the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. At the same time, it reinforces the research agenda of the Manuel Ballbé Chair in areas such as human and ecocentric security, global law, environmental governance, and the legal protection of nature.
